June has come around very quickly this year and we are once again planning for the end of the 2009-2010 school year and beginning to work on the school organization and assignments for next year. Track and Field is wrapping up for the junior and senior high students with the largest number of students from Grades 7-9 qualifying to compete in the Buffalo Trail Finals. As well, congratulations to Chad Downing who will represent PPS at the provincial level in hurdles with Ryan Hauck being recognized for placing third in High Jump. We are extremely proud of our students. Our K-3 students will have their Sports Day on Friday, June 4th.
Our junior and senior high school students will be treated to a Hypnotist Presentation on Thursday, June 10th at Saint Thomas Aquinas School. SRC will be funding our students to attend.
On June 14th our Grade 12 students will begin their final Diploma Exams and this will be followed on June 15th by our Grade 3 and 6 students writing Achievement Test. Please refer to the attached Exam Schedule for the specific dates. The final day of classroom instruction for Senior High is Friday, June 18th; Junior High is Monday, June 21st and Elementary is Monday, June 28th. Report Cards for elementary will be handed out in the classrooms on June 28th and the Junior and Senior High Report Cards will be mailed out by June 30th.
As most know this is my last year as Principal of Provost Public School. I would like to thank everyone for your support over the past four years. While I am retiring from the Principalship of PPS, I have agreed to take over the Principalship of Hughenden for a year to meet a temporary leadership need. Mr. Barry Scinski will become the new principal of Provost Public School for 2010-2011. He comes to us as an experienced school administrator from the Westlock area. All the best to him in his new role!
Dr. Robert W. Walker
Principal
